Survive or Die Trying – My Hands-On Arkero VR Review

Arkero VR Review (2025) – Chaotic VR RPG Action | Jellie Rose

What Is Arkero VR?

Well, when it comes to Arkero VR's gameplay, I would say it's an RPG. While the Steam description lists it as a MOBA with 3 classes, you can practice in a single-player mode and later take on waves in co-op or battle in PvP. Did I mention this is a VR game?

Arkero VR was released on May 9th, 2025, and was developed and published by Interco Industries LLC. Its tags are Action, Adventure, VR, and Fantasy. It stands at only $11.99 on Steam, which I think is a pretty good price for a VR game.

I also want to thank the devs for giving me a key through a program called Keymailer!

Now, what can you expect in Arkero VR? Expect needing to practice a lot before hopping into battle. I ended up doing one of the practice trials for the Archer. Bow, arrow, draw back, and you're good to go, right? Not if you don't draw it all the way back, and not if your lady bits are in the way of drawing back. Not if you then smash yourself in the mouth with the controller because you couldn't see where your hands were, and then somehow exit the game.

We're not going to talk about my chaos... Moving on.

In the trial, as you move forward, monsters spawn. There are also power-ups that you can hit to gain a few different limited-time abilities. You have to make sure you don't waste those, meaning don't miss your target or just randomly shoot, because they will run out. I don't know if it was shot-based or time-based, to be honest.

I also learned that if you back up while you are shooting and then move forward again, more monsters will spawn, so my normal gaming style of walking backward and shooting did not work in this case. I am a tag-and-run kind of girl.

I'm a panicky person, so this VR action game was a little much for me. At least I didn't throw up. The movement was pretty smooth. That is my biggest problem with VR games, because moving too fast in-game can make me nauseous. They also either use really bright or really dark colors. It's like, come on, work with me here. But Arkero VR was pleasant for me. I did still take Dramamine before I started playing.

Final Thoughts – Is Arkero VR Worth Playing in 2025?

I can't really speak for the co-op or the PvP portion of the game. But after I got the hang of the controls, I really enjoyed battling the monsters in the trial run. I'm hoping to get my headset charged back up and try the other classes, as there is also a Crossbowman and a Mage. I don't think the Mage was out yet when I first played, so I wonder if it is out now.

Now on Steam, it says there are no reviews, but when clicking on it, I found two poor reviews. One person said the movement was nauseating, which I found weird because if it was, I would have thrown the headset off. The other mainly complained that there were no people online to even do co-op or PvP with. So there must just not be a good player base, which sucks, seeing as the long-run point of the game is online play.

I find that a lot of VR games have that teleport movement that just makes the game feel weird. Like let us just walk around we have joysticks. Since you haven't played it in so long you should revisit it and see if it's updated.

It seems like all the options are all range based.

It’s frustrating that there’s a range where, if you step back too far, enemies reset or respawn when you move forward again. A lot of players prefer a more tactical playstyle where they can retreat and snipe enemies from a distance.

I'm a ranged player so it was a plus for me.

I have to figure out how to play it again, I haven't used my oculus in so long I forget how to play pc games on it. LOL

Yeah, that's my play style in everything, tag and back up. LOL. I want space to not get hit. I mostly run some kind of squishy no defense high attack build.
